A superb large-scale 1988 Curtis Jere wall sculpture for Artisan House, depicting two elegant herons standing amongst lily pads. An especially desirable variation of the celebrated Heron design, beautifully executed in brass, patinated brass and nickel-plated brass, with a wonderfully vibrant sculptural presence.

Full Description

Dating to 1988, this impressive American metal wall sculpture is signed Curtis Jere and was produced for Artisan House, renowned for its distinctive decorative metalwork and sculptural wall art.

The composition features two stylised herons standing amongst lily pads, a particularly appealing variation of the widely recognised Curtis Jere Heron design. The combination of brass, patinated brass and nickel-plated brass creates a rich interplay of colour, texture and reflected light, giving the sculpture a wonderful sense of movement and depth.

Handmade in the USA, the piece demonstrates the expressive metalworking and bold decorative approach associated with Curtis Jere's late 20th century designs.

Of particularly generous proportions, measuring approximately 114 cm high by 87 cm wide, the sculpture makes a striking architectural statement. Two discreet, solid mounting points to the reverse allow it to be securely displayed on a wall.

We have also photographed the sculpture with lighting positioned behind it, demonstrating how backlighting can enhance its silhouette and metallic surfaces to create a particularly dramatic focal point.

In very good condition, with no repairs or breaks, this is a fabulous example of American vintage decorative wall art and a highly appealing piece for collectors of Curtis Jere sculpture and mid-century-inspired design.

Styling Notes

With its elegant proportions and striking metallic finish, this Curtis Jere wall sculpture would make an exceptional focal point above a sofa, sideboard or console table. Particularly effective in mid-century modern, contemporary and eclectic interiors, the contrasting brass finishes respond beautifully to changing natural and artificial light.

For a more dramatic presentation, carefully positioned backlighting can emphasise the silhouettes of the herons and lily pads, creating an almost theatrical wall display.
