1930s Wooden Egg Hatching Box — Original Unrestored Surface
An unusual 1930s wooden egg hatching box, surviving in wonderfully untouched condition. Its simple utilitarian construction and superb aged surface transform this once practical agricultural object into a highly decorative piece of rural social history.
Full Description
A wonderfully characterful 1930s wooden egg hatching box, retained in unrestored condition with an exceptional timeworn surface.
Originally a practical piece of poultry-keeping equipment, the box now has considerable appeal as an example of early 20th-century agricultural and rural history. Its straightforward wooden construction reflects its functional origins, while decades of wear have created the rich surface and patina that make it so appealing today.
Importantly, the piece has not been restored, allowing the marks, wear and variations in the timber to remain part of its story. It is precisely this untouched character that gives the box its decorative strength.
Now removed from its original purpose, it makes a fascinating decorative object for a country-house, rustic or eclectic interior and would work particularly well as an unusual display piece or talking point.

Styling Notes
A great example of an everyday working object becoming something unexpectedly decorative. Its simple form and untouched surface would sit beautifully amongst primitive furniture, folk art and country-house pieces, or provide texture and history within a more contemporary interior.
